The Digitisation Centre at the "Vladislav Petkovic Dis" public library in Cacak, Serbia has joined the DigCurV network.
The Digitisation Centre at the "Vladislav Petkovic Dis" public library in Cacak was established in January 2008. It has three full-time employee and one part-time, and devotes some 10% of all staff resources to digitization and digital preservation which is unique in Serbia. The Centre is one of the few institutions in Serbia to have developed a Digital Library system and to provide online access to some part of digital collections. The Digital Library of Cacak http://cacak-dis.rs/dig_bibl/index.html is used by people world-wide. Its project the Web Archive of Cacak is the only active project of preservation of cultural heritage on the Web in Serbia.
Bogdan Trifunovic, information manager at the Centre, says of joining DigCurV "We are hoping to obtain more knowledge and skills in digital preservation, because that is the field largely neglected by digitization practitioners in Serbia. Also, we are trying to provide practical workshops for digital preservation in the future, aimed towards our colleagues in libraries, museums, archives etc. "
